WASHINGTON: The White House was put on lockdown and the surrounding location cordoned off by emergency situation workers Saturday after an evident gunshot was heard.

The United States Secret Service stated on Twitter, that it was reacting “to reports of an individual who apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot injury along the north fence line of @White House.”
