Number of women employees in the Vatican on the rise

The number of women employees in the Vatican is on the rise. In 2019, Pope Francis employed 1016 women, representing 22 percent of the total workforce. This is according to research carried out by Vatican News on the occasion of World Women’s Day marked on 8 March. The findings also show that the number of women in positions of authority in the Vatican and the Curia has also increased.
