Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello made a deal with the Devils on Wednesday, acquiring veteran forwards Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac from his former team for a collection of draft picks and prospects, according to a press release.
The Devils landed the Islanders’ first-round pick in 2021, a conditional fourth-rounder in 2022 and minor-league forwards A.J. Greer and Mason Jobst.
The trade between the two division rivals marks the first major move ahead of Monday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline, as the Islanders, tied for first place in the East Division, make another run at the Stanley Cup having fallen two games short last summer.
