In a shocking incident, a Harayna police inspector opened fire at his family in Kaithal killing one of his sons. The accused attacked the family with his service revolver in the wee hours of Monday and left his other son and two daughters-in-law grievously injured.

According to police, it was a family dispute turned ugly and 57-year-old Satbir Singh started firing at his sons and daughters-in-law. While 32-year-old Gagandeep Singh died on the spot, his younger brother, 30-year-old Pradeep Singh was critically injured. Both the daughters-in-law ran, trying to save themselves. One of them jumped from the balcony and the other sustained head injuries.

The accused fled the spot after the incident. The neighbors at the police colony rushed in to help, taking all injured to a local hospital where they were referred to PGI Rohtak owing to the critical condition.

A senior investigation officer revealed that the accused had been rounded up. When contacted, SP Kaithal Shashank Kumar said the investigations were on and the forensic team was at work at the spot. The injured have not given any statement as they were not fit to do so.
