Disney Plus kicked off the Star Wars Day (May 4) celebrations a few days early on Friday, by refreshing the streaming service's look with concept art from the entire Skywalker Saga and its spinoffs.
You've probably seen Ralph McQuarrie's iconic 1975 painting of C-3PO and R2-D2, which would inspire the look of the first Star Wars movie two years later , but it'll look even better on a big TV screen. Along with McQuarrie's work, you'll see Doug Chiang and other artists' concepts for the movies and shows such as The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars as well as Jason Palmer's spectacular saga-spanning mural from the Celebration 2019 convention.

"The unique brand-centric architecture of Disney Plus gives us the opportunity to get creative with how we showcase and engage fans around the content," Michael Paull, president of Disney Streaming Services, said in a statement.
"As part of the 'May the 4th' celebration we partnered with the teams at Lucasfilm to honor the artistry of Star Wars and bring their vision to life on Disney+ by showcasing the incredible concept art from over four decades of the beloved saga."
The Phantom Menace isn't the best movie in the series, but Doug Chiang's concept art is beautiful.

The actual Star Wars Day (Monday, May 4) will see the latest movie in the franchise, The Rise of Skywalker, make its streaming debut on Disney Plus. Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, a documentary series revealing how the live-action show was made, will premiere on the service that day, as will the final episode of CGI animated series The Clone Wars.
With The Rise of Skywalker's addition to Disney Plus, only one Star Wars movie will be absent from the service in the US — 2018's Solo is currently exclusive to Netflix in the region, but is available on Disney Plus in Europe. It'll hit Disney Plus in the US in July.
